A quantitative and qualitative open citation analysis of retracted articles in the humanities

Abstract In this article, we show and discuss the results of a quantitative qualitative analysis open citations retracted publications in humanities domain. Our study was conducted by selecting papers domain marking their main characteristics (e.g., retraction reason). Then, gathered citing entities annotated basic metadata title, venue, subject) in-text intent, sentiment). Using these data, performed retractions humanities, presenting descriptive statistics topic modeling entities’ abstracts citation contexts. As part our findings, noticed that there no drop overall number after year retraction, with few have either mentioned or expressed negative sentiment toward cited publication. addition, on several occasions, higher concern/awareness belonging to health sciences about publication, compared social science domains. Philosophy, arts, history are areas showed concern retraction.
